Sarbanes-Oxley

SOX is the public company accounting reform and investor protection act. It was passed in response to high-profile business failures, such as Enron and WorldCom, in order to reinforce investment confidence and protect investors by improving the accuracy and reliability of corporate disclosure.

COSO Exposes Discussion Document on Monitoring Internal Control for Comment

On September 17, 2007, the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission (COSO) released for public comment a discussion document entitled Guidance on Monitoring Internal Control Systems (Discussion Document). The Discussion Document, which was developed by COSO and led by a team from Grant Thornton LLP, provides guidance designed to help organizations monitor the quality of their internal control systems.
